Active 50s
Active 50 is a community-based physical activity and social programme for people aged 50+. Through a weekly timetable of low-impact sport and activity, the programme supports people to stay active, connected and confident as they age.
Sessions are delivered by our friendly coaching and volunteer team and include both free and low-cost options to ensure accessibility.
Why it's needed
Social isolation among people aged 50+ is a growing issue, exacerbated by the pandemic and the cost of living crisis. Many older adults face barriers to staying active, including health concerns, confidence, affordability and lack of social connection.
Ways we make a difference
- Deliver a weekly programme of low-impact activities suitable for all abilities
- Offer a wide range of options including walking football, pickleball, walking groups, yoga and social activities
- Create inclusive, welcoming environments where people feel comfortable trying something new
- Support physical health, mental wellbeing and social connection through regular activity
- Build peer networks that help reduce loneliness and improve quality of life
