Holiday Camps
Our Holiday Camps provide safe, inclusive, and engaging opportunities for children and young people to be active, try new sports, and enjoy nutritious meals during school holidays. Designed for children of all abilities – including those with additional SEN needs – our camps combine physical activity, skill development, social connection, and wellbeing support.
In 2024, we provided 5,100 free camp spaces, ensuring children from low-income families can access high-quality holiday provision.
Why it's needed
Research shows that school holidays can be pressure points for families, leading to a holiday experience gap. From our 2024 Moving Forward survey, we found 56.5% parents felt there are not enough affordable and accessible opportunities for young people to engage in sports or physical activities in their local area.
Children from low-income households are more likely to:
- Miss out on organised out-of-school activities
- Experience ‘unhealthy holidays’ in nutrition and physical health
- Suffer social isolation
Additionally, 52% of children are still less or fairly active (Sport England, 2024). Holiday Camps address these challenges by providing structured, fun, and inclusive physical activity in a safe environment.
Ways we make a difference
- Provide free childcare and meals for families on free school meals
- Offer diverse, inclusive sports to engage all children, including those with SEN (33.3% of participants)
- Provide daily nutritious meals and food education, supporting healthy habits
- Create social opportunities to build friendships and reduce isolation
- Encourage mental health and wellbeing through active play, skill development, and confidence-building
- Inspire new interests in sports and hobbies that children may not otherwise access
